A Blind Man and His Guide Dog 盲人和他的導(dǎo)盲犬
Once upon a time, there are a blind man and his guide dog. Both of them, being hit by a truck, died tragically.
As they were on their way to Heaven, an angel stopped them with this, “There is only one place left in Heaven, therefore one of you has to go to Hell.”
“Since my dog does not understand the meaning of Heaven or Hell, can I decide on his behalf?” the blind man asks.
The angel gave the man a disdainful look. She frowned and thought for a while. “I'm very sorry, Sir. All souls are equal. You two will compete for staying in heaven.”
The blind man was disappointed, “Oh, what is the competition about?”
The angel said, “It's easy --- a running race. You are going to run from here to the big gate of heaven. The faster one can stay. Don't worry. You are dead and not blind anymore. The speed of souls has nothing to do with bodies. The purer and more virtuous soul is, the faster the speed will be.”
The man thought for a second and agreed to it.
Thus starts the race. The angel thought the blind man would make a desperate dash to the gate. But the opposite turns out to be true. The blind man walks slowly. And surprisingly, the guide dog walks by his master at an equal snail pace. It suddenly dawns on the Angel that the guide dog, being in his profession for so many years, has got into the habit of being closeby its master. Even worse, this devilish master takes advantage of his dog's loyalty. When they are near to the end, he will tell his dog to stop, then he would have a walkover.
The angel feels sorry for the dog, calling out loudly, “You have devoted all your life to your master. He is not blind now and does not need your guide. Run, run to the gate.”
As if her words fall on deaf ears, both of them walk as slowly as before, just like they were walking on a street.
Exactly as the angel has expected, as they are just a few steps from the Heaven's gate, the master tells his dog to sit. The angel looks at the master with aversion, … expecting the worst will happen.
The man smiled and turned to her, “Finally I send my dog to heaven. What I worry about most is he doesn't want to go there at all and only want to be with me. So that's why I want to make the decision for him. Please take good care of him. ”
The angel was stuck.
The man looked at his dog. He was reluctant to leave. “It’s wonderful to make it by a race. As long as I command him to step forward, he will be in heaven. He has been my companion for years. This is the first time I can see him with my eyes. I couldn’t help walking slowly so that I could see him more. I hope the road will never end. But since the heaven is here, he should go where he belongs to. Please take good care of him.”
The man commanded the dog to go forward. As the dog put its first step in heaven, he fell like a piece of feather down to hell. The dog saw it and run to his master as soon as it could. The angel spread her wings, tried her best to chase and catch it. But the most virtuous and pure soul’s got the fastest speed, much faster than any angel’s.
The dog and the man were together again. Even in hell, it will guard its master forever. The angel stood there for a long long time and said, “I was wrong. They are two united souls. They can’t be separated.”
There is only one truth in this world. Why people see different results from it? It's because we never view things at a perfect right and fair angle. Sometimes we judge them on our own experience, likes or dislikes, and moral standards. Unexpectedly, we see feint.
